Why Authenticity?

Holy backed up information, Batman! It’s been almost two months since my last post and I am never doing that to myself again. I have so much to share that I’m worried this post might come out like a jumbled mess of disorganized chaos get lengthy.

Who You Are is Enough.

I have been gaining a deeper understanding of the concept that there is way less doing & much more being necessary to live an authentic, joyful, & expansive life. On my journey I have always known this concept, but I can’t say I always trusted it. Being has been no easy task for this earthy doer! As my sister so eloquently put in her latest energy update, “Our willingness to just BE our true selves is all that is/was ever required to shift…and this transition into our most authentic selves is happening right now,  with or without our participation.” Ex-actly!

Have you seen the movie Slumdog Millionaire? For me, the brilliance was in the message that every moment is leading us to our destined fortune! And by fortune I am not just talking monetary value, I mean all of the things you desire to lead the life of your dreams.  It’s in the moments that we think are ordinary, or just happenstance, that nuggets of information are seeping deep into our cells, guiding us effortlessly toward our fortune. We organically live out the answers to life’s questions, our job is to listen, trust, & be patient with ourselves (aka: get out of our own way and stay out).

I have been having many “Slumdog moments!” I have been living out the answers I need to deliver this life purpose of mine. In my dreams, in my waking life, during conversations with friends – information is popping up everywhere! But there is one very pivotal moment that answered a question I didn’t even know I had:

Why Authenticity?

Recently, I lost a very near and dear love of mine…my Aunt Millie. Since my early childhood this amazingly vibrant, hip, loving, and graceful soul was a constant reflection of my inner light. It would make sense that in her passing, I found more of that vibrancy.

I was gifted with the ability to care for her in her final weeks. As I held space for her transition, while tending to my own grief and earthly attachments, I found an inner strength I have never experienced before. I tapped into this deep well of security, stability & freedom! This deep well was my authentic core-self I have spent a lifetime uncovering. It was here, when I needed it most, to show me the great freedom that comes with being able to trust in/rely on myself. It was here as a gift for me to feel the expansiveness and ultimate freedom that comes with being me. It was here as a gift for me to share with you!

When I felt the expansiveness and joy, freedom and serenity, in that endless well of support known as Me, I knew more than ever before why I coach others to be authentic, Be Who You Are Called To Be!™, be.

The benefits of leading an authentic life:

  • Freedom to be You!
  • Ability to rely solely on yourself!
  • Trusting so deeply in who you are that you guide and create your life based on your desires!
  • Acceptance of yourself, leaving no room for negative self-talk or judgment!
  • Vibrancy. Charisma.
  • Power to stand strong in the face of adversity.
  • Joy.
  • Living from the heart.
    (stay with me)
  • Learning how to put yourself first.
  • Releasing expectations.
  • Relaxation. Trusting in the process of life.
  • Finding your passions and gifts.
  • Actualizing your potential.
  • Living your dream life.
  • Self-love.
  • A greater capacity to give to others.
  • Incorporating healthy and productive conflict.
  • Maintaining healthy boundaries.
    (you’re doing so good!)
  • Ability to see all experiences (perceived as good or bad) as a gift.
  • Your very own, personalized inner compass. Getting in touch with your core self will reveal all your intuitive knowings!
  • Heightened intuition.
  • Balance. A sensing of and distaste for extremes.
  • Contributing to the energy of joy on the planet.
  • Leading by example. When you have the courage to express who you are (eccentricities and all) you are encouraging others to come out and be their true selves.
(believe it or not, I could keep going)

The Authenticity Fad.

Got Authenticity?

Everywhere I turn I feel like I am hearing confirmation for my motto, Be Who You Are Called To Be!™. On my facebook page this past Wednesday I paid tribute to all the media broadcasting supportive messages for others to express, love, & value themselves and their uniqueness. As I wrote this fb post, my excitement took over and when I went to hit “share” I got this message:
Status updates must be less than 420 characters. You have entered 938 characters here.

Oops! Time for a blog :) .

Here’s a rundown of the current trendy messages supporting authenticity:

*Lady Gaga. A constant reflection of what it means to be authentic! “The queen of self-love”-Glee.  On the current cosmic beat is her song, Born This Way. The Lyrics speak for themself!

*Glee. The whole episode this week revolved around celebrating uniqueness & accepting yourself for who you are. Your eccentricities are often your biggest gift!

*The Voice. A new show where (due to blind auditions) talent supersedes any judgments or perceptions about what a vocal artist “should” look like.

*American Idol. Often the judges are encouraging contestants to find themselves, connect with their hearts, and sing from that place of uniqueness. In my words, bring more of who they are to what they do.

*Anti-Bullying Campaign. The anti-bullying buzz is now a global message being spread about providing space for everyone to feel safe to express their differences.

*Pink. Dear Ms. Pink, your lyrics are Perfect. And so are you. Thanks for never being afraid to be exactly who you are!

Whether you’re reading my blog, watching tv, listening to music, or catching up on the latest energy updates you’re being supported to be your most authentic self!

The more you step into yourself, the more you Come Out!

Such a wonderful post! When I feel like being authentic is so far-reaching, it’s so reassuring to remember how many things are right here encouraging us to be ourselves and that that is enough!

This is really inspiring. I’m in love with authenticity!

Found you through Lauren’s work – have been a follower of her work for some time now and good to see that has such enlightened family.

    Enjoyed your words.

Very inspiring – I hope to always be authentic, but know that I can always go deeper and even MORE real — it’s just not always comfortable or the easy way to go.

    I really enjoy this blog!

Love the Slumdog metaphor! Along with the whole notion of getting “out of our own way and stay(ing) out”… I completely resonate with that. I live when I can sit back and watch how beautifully my life can work instead of fighting it, thanks for the reminder that authenticity has everythig to do with that!

Thanks for all your amazing comments!
@Marie James- well said. It is not always the comfortable or easy way to go! I hope that every time you take a step toward authenticity you praise yourself for your courageous work!
    <3 to all.

I just stumbled upon your website and am so impressed! It’s so refreshing to see someone talking about the importance of authenticity. And it’s true — I do see it emerging in popular culture, but it even goes to show how much the world needs this message!!

Love how you pointed out the good in pop culture. It’s so often equated with negativity. I guess there is a shift happening right now in the world! Woo hoo!

If you AND lady gaga say authenticity us the way to go then I’m totally in!
